Even though cannabis is still federally illegal, each year more and more states allow marijuana products to be used for medicinal or recreational purposes. This chart presents state-by-state positions on usage. In this chart we’ve added qualifying medical conditions for those states where marijuana is legal for medical purposes. The chart highlights fully legal states, where marijuana is legal for medical and recreational bases. Mixed is where the rules for medical and recreational use do not agree. We’ve updated it with the early election results from November 8, 2022.
